Can we talk about how weird GS housing selection is?

So I got approved for housing and I was super excited about it because it seemed like one less thing I'd have to worry about, but after seeing the number of people asking for any info on the housing they've already agreed to (on Reddit of all places) I'm just confused.

How weird is it that when you go through selection there are often no pictures or floor plans of the place?

Is there any way around this, or do I just have to make a trip to NY (I'm out of state at the moment) to try and see these places?
