Post Body

I'm planning on joining a sports club next semester, but I'm kind of a shy person and I want to make more friends, but it's really hard for me to put myself out there. I want to practice meeting new people without immediately throwing myself into the deep end. I saw that most of the social scene here is like clubbing and not frat/sorority life (don't think as a grad student I could join that anyway?), is it a thing to go clubbing alone, and if so, should I expect to be talking to lots of strangers? Are there some clubs on campus that are fun or very socially welcoming? Are there online communities at columbia like discord servers or group chats lmfao that anyone can join and are welcoming?

Honestly low key they should make a club specifically designed for socially anxious people who want to make friends
