Have a trip soon and plan on day hiking starting at 8am to pikes peak summit from barr trail then shuttle down. Been training for a couple months now as its a harder hike and altitude than im used to, but i was wondering what i need to pack clothes/ gear wise? Will be attempting early / mid September. Thanks for any info!
Update: Well definitely start earlier, thanks for all the replies emphasizing this. Still curious as to clothing though. I do a lot of hikes in the Appalachians and typically wear a synthetic sun hoodie, or the capilene t shirt with the airshed pro pullover. I also have the patagonia 3l torrentshell rain jacket. I bought an MT100 as cold hikes arent common for me and wanted something affordable. My main concern is a good midlayer / fleece. Im worried about getting something too heavy / warm to comfortably hike in, but also dont want to be cold. Will i be fine without one, if not do you have any suggestions for a good midlayer? Thanks!
