How do you tell your teacher that you’ve gotten a tutor?

Post Body

I’m in a Computer Science class that I’ve been really struggling with so I’ve decided to get a private tutor, and I’m wondering how to tell me teacher this without it sounding like I’m cheating.

This teacher is particularly concerned with his copy & pasting our code from each other, or the internet. Basically he just doesn’t want us to cheat.

Last 4 nights I’ve been going to bed at like 3 in the morning cuz of the amount of time this class has been taking me (cuz I still have other coursework to do). I just can’t do that anymore. So I’ve hired a tutor.

He is NOT doing my homework. He more so just walks through things logically with me and keeps me from going down the wrong rabbit holes. I was doing a project with him for 3.5 hours today. Without him the same project would have easily taken me over 12 hours just because of the amount of rabbit hole time I put in.

The teacher is asking for us to cite any external sources we used for the project. Should I let him know before I cite the tutor? Should I just cite him and not worry about it, or should I not cite him at all?
