Recently, as I have about a year left to go before I transfer (community college to UC), I started watching some reaction videos on YouTube from people who apply to different universities and film their reaction as they find out if they got accepted or not. As I watched I noticed that a vast majority of them applied to different universities under different programs. For example someone got into one uni under bioengineering and got into another uni under an art major... is this like a strategy in order to maximize their chances of getting into specific places? I am pretty clear cut when it comes to my major (sociology) and will only be applying under that one. I am just wondering why people would apply with such different majors to different universities.
