So, I am steamed. It's been three days since "the incident" and I am still angry as hell.
Here's the living situation: in our dorms, we have semi-private bathrooms which are shared between two rooms. This is a similar setup. The bathrooms are the residents' responsibility to clean and restock. I have a room to myself, and on the other side are two freshman girls.
[Begin rant.]
We started classes in mid-August, and they haven't cleaned once. They restock the toilet paper (so do I) and the hand soap (so do I). Everything else has been my doing, which I don't mind because I usually just swipe everything with some Clorox wipes once a week, which takes 15 minutes tops. They brought the shower curtain and bathrug, which I didn't wash, and I watched as those slowly turned orange and gray, hoping they would do something about it. Of course, they never did. I asked them a few times, "Okay, we will," and here we are three months after I last asked them.
Around noon on Halloween, one of them made the toilet overflow. Luckily I was in my room when this happened. She shrieked, told me to call maintenance (which I did) and I told her that I had lab soon, but I had cleaning stuff in my closet that she was welcome to use and I'd help clean up as soon as I got back. I threw down some towels in front of the door because I saw it coming through into my room, and I asked her to get started on the cleanup.
When I came back from lab three hours later, I knocked on their door and told them it would be easier to get in through their side due to the pile of sopping wet towels on my side. No response. Their bedroom door was locked. One of my friends said they saw her and the other roommate walking out of the building wearing Halloween costumes, heading to a party.
So I picked up the towels best I could, some of them with pieces of poo stuck to them, and got to work cleaning the bathroom. It took hours to get everything up - I mean, I had paper towels and newspapers, what the hell else am I supposed to do? - then I had to run to the store to get bleach to disinfect (and further ruin) my towels. I didn't get to enjoy Halloween at all because I was stuck literally cleaning up my suitemate's shit.
I'm tired of this. I'm sick that I ruined my towels - new towels are a luxury in my family, and tossing two year old towels is very wasteful - and I'm sick that I didn't get to have fun on Halloween.
[End rant.]
TL;DR: My suitemates, who haven't cleaned the bathroom since class began, overflowed the toilet, left me to clean it up, and haven't even said thank you. Other than screaming bloody murder at them, what should I do? What should I do?
I talked to my RA already, who has a meeting set up on Wednesday, though I feel like that won't help at all.
