So, I’m having an unusual predicament. I’m currently studying HNC social science at a college in Scotland. I’ve done the level 5/6 social science and without blowing my own trumpet too much, I’m more than capable intellectually speaking of doing the HNC. my issue lies within the social aspect of it. You see, for some reason, my social anxiety has massively flared up to the point where merely walking into a classroom causes a panic attack, I’ve tried multiple times to go into class to no avail. So I did the most logical thing and spoke with the ELS team (education and learning support), and I have informed them of the situation. They have set up a meeting for tomorrow and said in the meantime I can do my class work in the library, which I’ve been doing all week. My lecturers are being very unsupportive and frankly quite rude about this however, and have outright said they are unable to support this. What can I do!? I’m more than capable of teaching myself the course on campus using the moodle page (a website where the lecturers upload the work), and I’m happy to use my study days to confirm my work with the lecturers and show them what I’ve done. So I’m still making the effort, showing up, and getting the work done, and I’ve been told by ELS that this is okay, but my lecturers aren’t allowing it. What do I do!?
