Just thought I’d do everyone a favor and increase sub quality by posting based Christ content.
But for seriousness sake, do you think that western culture idolizes rationality ? How does this play into IQ and the perception society has of it? Christianity has famously referred to Christ as the Mind of God. In some sense, he is the source of all logic and rationale within a Christian worldview. St. John even borrows the Greek term “logos” to describe Him in John, 1 John, and Revelation. St. Paul’s description of Him seems to confirm this in Colossians, and even quotes Greek poetry to evangelize to the Greeks. The point being, the Greek connection was known from the beginning and has always been fully embraced to a degree. Whereas Greek statements about the logos were somewhat vague or even esoteric, Christ (or at least His followers), claimed to be the inherent intelligibility of reality incarnate.
Did this anthropomorphization of Logic elevate the virtue of intellect to a degree that it has any meaningful cultural impact even among non believers today? Isn’t it strange that “gifted” is a scientific category when the label itself seems to make an arbitrary value judgement that excessive intellect is something of value?
