Hi all,
I have a bit of an unusual question. I have worked professionally as a roaster for about 5 years, and have managed to advance to a fairly stable full-time position with a great team and decent benefits. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I want to stay with the company I work for in the long term - I recently got married, and my wife and I would like to own a home in the next year or two, and I’m afraid I’m nearing the top of my earning potential in my role. I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing so I’m not totally pigeonholed into coffee, but since my work experience is now pretty specialized I’m wondering whether there are any other careers where the skills developed over my years as a roaster would translate.
So: If any of you have moved on from roasting into a related career, how did the transition go? What do you do nowadays?
