So I noticed this when I teleported to base, upgraded a weapon(including buying the limited mats from Coco because I newgamed) and then testing it out with a few different codes and gifts then exiting the game without ever sitting at the mistle. When I logged back in I was at the start of the mistle with the original loadout and I checked the weapon, back to the 0, I checked Coco, the mats I bought were back. So basically you can mess around with your gear as long as you don't sit at the mistle you can just mulligan it all back if the results aren't to your liking because shop transactions don't cause a save state like dying or mistle sitting does.
