  • 1 oz applejack
  • 1 oz blended Scotch
  • 1/6 oz ginger syrup
  • 1/12 oz pimento dram
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 2 grinds of black pepper

Stir with ice and strain over a big ice cube. Garnish with crystalized ginger.

I made this. A double actually, since my glasses are huge. Everything in it is hella flavoured. The result tastes like nothing. I did enjoy eating the candied ginger, though.

Anybody have a better spec? Or even better, a hypothesis about why it’s so completely bland?

I tried this just now. The apple is very mild. Te drink is strong but it does fall flat. I did .5 ginger liqueur and .5 dram (I only had all spice, it went really well) and I still felt it was not quite right. Added half simple and half lemon. That seemed to help the spice shine a little more but I still didn’t get any apple out of it. Was thinking of making my own apple spice syrup or maybe even adding a .5 of apple juice/cider.

1/6 of an ounce what’s that like .1 ml. I have a feeling this might be why
