How to safety de-feather our little guy

Post Body

So we’ve noticed for about a day or two that there’s a feather out of place and we didn’t think much of it. It didn’t cause any pain and it took just an extra shoulder shrug or two to get his feathers all back in alignment.

Well today it’s causing issues. He chirps when he’s preening it like it might actually hurt or is at least sore or sensitive. He still flys from place to place like it’s nothing, just when he tries to fold his wings up is when it bothers him. Once it’s somewhat back in place he’s back to being fine.

It looks like a blood feather to us so we don’t dare just pluck it for him or cut it. So we’re wondering what we should do? Is this something that’ll just work itself out or do we need to help this along?
