Distilled water or Saline for cocaine nasal spray?

Been making nasal spray for some time now but wanted to try to figure out why people use saline vs distilled/bacteriostatic water? I always have used the latter, but have been debating switching.
My understanding is that distilled/bacteriostatic water is much more conducive to saline because saline, as the name implies for “saline rinses,” does not absorb as well in the nose compared to distilled water. Given that, why do people choose saline?
