Cardio to help with lifestyle

My boss has had four heart attacks, maybe due to stress but I’m sure his coke addiction didn’t do him any favors. Been thinking about working out and doing cardio to help me balance this vice. Only problem is that I’m worried I’m stressing out my heart too much. Don’t do it regularly so addiction isn’t an issue just looking for input, thanks.
