Let me start by saying I’m a certified med tech. When I interviewed they said this was assisted living on front half & memory care on back half. I would either be scheduled as a med tech or an aid but I would get trained as both.
Well this is more like skilled, they are adding me to do things I do not feel comfortable doing without training me probably to do them.
The few staff I have worked with don’t seem to care (letting lights go off for awhile before answering them so they can finish a phone call, being rough [in my opinion] with disabled residents, speaking down to the residents, sleeping on the overnight) or seem to want to be here but if I’m going to be here & do this, I really want to do a good job.
Any advice you can give a newbie?
