Okay everyone, i need help! I'm really no good with the lingo so this might get a bit long.
Started cloth about 10 months ago. BumGenius 4.0 pockets. Untreated hard water (oops). The microfiber inserts started to smell fishy about 6-8 weeks ago. We have since moved so the hard water is no longer an issue.
Stripped, bleached, no more fish smell! However, now I've got the ammonia smell if the diapers sit (dry bin) for more than a day.
Heres what I need advice on: -I'd like to switch to a natural fiber insert, something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Prefolds? Bamboo? What has worked for you? -Considering a change to a wet pail set up? I know it's no good for the covers but even it was just the inserts? We have a laundry room that we could put it in without it being a hazard to the kiddo. -Should I strip/bleach again? Still have a few pods of Grovia Mighty Bubbles but I don't want to cause any wear that isn't necessary.
Current wash situation: HE washer, All free and clear powder. Quick cycle with half detergent on cold. Regular cycle with full detergent on hot. Hang pockets, dryer for inserts.
Any help or advice would be great. Thanks all!
