Girlfriend and I started climbing at the gym in January and thought we were progressing good, starting to get some solid 5.11s and V3s...Joshua Tree showed us that outside and gym climbing are way different. It was a good way to get our toes wet and get us anxious for more outside climbing in the future.
No problem! Doesn’t hurt to help keep people honest, in the end it’s our parks that benefit.
We definitely enjoyed just being out and about and are looking forward to the next outing. It’s a different type of challenge than you find indoors, and challenge is good!
She's awesome! And yep, our first time out of the gym, and it was definitely tough.
One of the first things I noticed too was that I had no idea where to put my feet. you don't realize how easy it is when everything is all labeled for you already.

What’s perfect about this rock is that 20ft behind us is the parking lot and picnic area. Definitely well within the rules of dogs at JTNP. I agree that we were representing climbers, and by following all the NPS rules I hope that we were representing them in a positive way.
