So I've been climbing for around three years now. I've been going to the gym at least 3 times a week for a whole year and I've still got problems with my skin. Every other week or so I get terrible stinging pain in my fingertips. Oh, also my skin tends to ROLL off my fingers. Idk if that's because my skin just dries out or what. But I also get little blood dots on my finger tips as well. That's when I know they are going to start hurting. I boulder and top rope but this problem occurs during both. I use the Climb On brand skin care but it doesn't seem to be doing much other than making me feel a little better.
I've read elsewhere that it's probably because I don't climb with as much control as I should. I attempt difficult climbs that I can't complete without projecting quite often. I'm guessing that my skin rubs on the holds as I move my body when it should stay where it is.
Thoughts? Advice? Anything helps because it's awful when I have the strength to stay at the gym for 3 hours and can't touch a V1 because my skin burns...I don't even want to hold the wheel to drive home xD....halp?
Edit: It would seem that this is a case of "The key, William Potter, is to not mind that it hurts."
