The proposed offshore wind farm in the Gulf of Maine will include at least a thousand wind turbines in critical whale habitat.
Is the benefit from the clean power worth the risk to the whales.

It's important to point out that yes, it would damage the habitat but are unlikely to directly kill the whales, and depending on the area, if this is the only viable option to quickly transition to green renewable energy then it might in the long-term be worth the negative impact to the native ecosystem.
Building any infrastructure on land, air or sea will always have some impact on the local environment, but it just depends if this benefit offsets the negative impact. Most people view that building new houses so people have someone to live is worth the negative environmental impact of destroying a field which has its own wildlife, so it's all relative.
