I managed to score a 64 on the college composition CLEP exam! The exam truly wasn’t difficult at all.
I studied for maybe 3-4 days since I hadn’t taken a college level English course in quite some time. Utilized Modern States only for the free voucher. The bulk of my studying was resources from the subreddit I found. Everything else was done by completing practice tests, seeing which questions I got wrong, and then finding out why. As for the essays, I just practiced with prompts online in the allotted time on the real test. This helped a lot.
As for my actual test, citations were my biggest obstacle. Make sure you know how to identify each type of citation (a book, journal, website, etc.) I felt like I did fairly well on the multiple choice and it definitely carried my essay score. I wrote a 4 paragraph essay for the first one and then wrote out an argumentative essay using both sources multiple times, but didn’t get to finish my conclusion. Overall not a bad test! Definitely recommend it for first time CLEP takers.
