I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Kazantsakis' "Odyssey: A Modern Sequel"?
Post Body
I have always been surprised at how few people know that Kazantzakis wrote a 33,000 line epic as a sequel to Homer's Odyssey. It follows him from his return to Ithaca all the way to his death.
More surprising, still, is how so few Classicists know about this book. Tiny spoiler, but not really: He leaves Ithaca, and goes and steals Helen again.
If you happen to know it, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts and /or feelings.
I, personally, think it is one of the most staggeringly beautiful things I have ever read. And the original illustrations that were done for it by the artist Ghika...OMG !! WOW!!
Be safe. Be well.
Damn! I spelled Kazantzakis wrong in the title -- which can't be edited. Mea Culpa.
