‘68 six engine question.

I’m reinstalling my freshly overhauled Autolite 1100 carb. The hose from the carb spacer to the PCV valve was roached at the carb end. Dried out and split. I cut an inch off and not I can’t get it go fit back in the spacer nipple. It appears that the nipple is 1/2 inch and the hose is maybe 3/8. Just a guess. The PCV valve fits just fine on the other end.
What is the proper hose to go there?
