Turns over but doesn’t start

Hi I took my 67 coupe I6 for a test drive the other day for about 20 minutes. Then I was gonna have my buddy drive it. It would crank but wouldn’t start. So we let it sit for a while and then it started ok but I have to give it some gas while cranking. Then about an hour later we tried another test drive and it was barely running. However after sitting for a day it starts fine. It’s not an ac car and gas electric ignition. Any thoughts?
