Fingal's cave — advice needed for shortening

I will participate in a competition next Thursday and have already practiced Mertz's Fingal's cave, but somehow the committee decided that all music pieces should be under 3 minutes long (crazy). My interpretation is 3:30, so I sadly have to cut it up. Does anyone have any ideas on what parts can be removed without ruining the overall picture of the piece?
