Hey guys,
I wanted to share my final thoughts on the matter before letting it rest.
First off, let me make one thing clear:
I didn't get upset because I lost the HRE, that's part of the game
I got upset because I lost the HRE because people were impatient
Secondly, I want to apologize for leaving in the middle of the game, that wasn't the correct response.
Now to start off, I kinda understand why everyone wanted my ruler dead (the HRE was getting too big and expanding everywhere)
The problem was this:
All my kingdoms were elective.
As everyone of you knows, when you die, you have to set up a new preferred heir for each title seperately.
The AI does not wait for this however and instantly determines their new preferred succesor from amongst the electors, sicne you didn't nominate anyone, if unpaused.
That is why I paused the game to set up my successors before the AI went all crazy (they don't instantly recalculate their vote when you set a successor)
I had a lot of pop up messages to work through before I could do this however, the natural "You died" message, several siege pop ups from my war and the plethora of assassination attempts thrown my way.
During this someone unpaused, I quickly noticed and paused again, but already got some new assassination attempts, clicking them away and continuing to set the heirs, the game unpaused again.
This time I didn't notice in time and I was FLOODED, lietrally swamped with assassination attempts, and not just the plot ones.
Several of them were diplomacy assassinations (the unique assassins in the hallway event)
My then ruler died, I lost the HRE, and naturally I was miffed that I solely lost it because people couldn't wait a second.
People then began saying "You just can't pause that long" whilst to my feeling we hadn't paused for such a long duration.
On top, we paused for a much much longer time when JuniorD had to unfuck what the AI did, and noone complained.
People then admitted to killing me, and I felt the only reason they unpaused was so they could get their assassins through before my succesion normalized.
Chalkface told me that assassins spam is illegal (after the events) in regards to me sending multiple assassins after Baddiekins, yet I recieved at least 10 attempts on my first ruler, and many more on my second ruler, with not all of them being plot related.
After I made the post in the sub reddit, several people threw personal insults at me (I shall not name them)
This led to giving me the feeling of being grouped on, because everyone was butthurt.
I fully understand that people working against you is part of the game, but I wish to be given the same courtesy, and not have every single player in the game become upset at me if I cross paths with another player, even though I did much to help start up players.
I want to leave it at this, giving my side of the story, as to why I got upset and left.
If you want to ask any questions you can ask them below
I had intended to continue to do organization work on the sub reddit, but after a talk with Chalkface I intend to come back to the game under two conditions:
People won't hold grudges against me
We set up clear rules about pausing and short sequence ruler deaths and assasination spam
Of course this is if it's okay with you guys.
I'd also like it if Chris could post the save, so I can check it my last dynasty members position and make up my mind about where to start so I won't delay the startup of next session.
