During the period of 1300-1400 AS, a few particularly notable events, significant enough to make a lasting mark in oral and written histories alike, affected the world of CivSim, as follows:
Global:
The Age of Piracy has begun! Lured by the promise of glory and big booty, low-life scallywags and criminal scum have taken to the seas everywhere from the Great Confederacy to the lands of the Payómkawichum, and started raiding mercantile fleets laden with precious goods from faraway lands - some as far as the New World. Some of the stronger pirate gangs have even formed breakaway states on the margins of overstretched nations such as Lambana and the Ordlish Kingdoms.
This global event will also be our next OC Contest, with two weeks from this post's creation for entries! Depending on the content and quality of your RP, your civ may also receive spreadsheet benefits for your participation once the two-week period has passed.
Local:
The Empire of Light was struck by devastating floods, resulting from a series of strong storms in quick succession.
The coastal regions of Alqalore were overwhelmed by a hurricane (or cyclone) more devastating than any known of to date.
One fine day, a horse-drawn carriage from a friendly nearby kingdom showed up at the gates of Grobhaven, bearing its king offering the hand of his daughter in marriage to any member of Vonoheim's royal family. (OOC: gain up to 9 unoccupied tiles of your choice for free, of which at least one must be adjacent to Vonoheim's borders and each one must border at least one other free tile).
Important: If your nation was affected by a local event, you must either respond to this post with RP or submit a new post detailing the effects of the event on your nation within two weeks following the submission of this post. If you fail to do so, the event will have detrimental effects on your nation as determined by the big bad mods.
Also note that spreadsheet stat changes stemming from these events aren't strictly required. Their full effects on the nation in question are up to interpretation.
