Cavale Expansion Through 1000 CE
Post Body

-250-1000 CE-

The two Cavale tribes rebounded rapidly in the years after the Great Six Years' Famine. By 250 CE, population within the existing Cavale lands had returned to its previous density, which had started to place great pressure on the resources the two nations depended on. As a result, bands of hunters from the north and farmers of the south began to venture east, into the sprawling plains of the region.

In the early years, the Cavale bands met with great resistance from the barbarians of the east. Only over many decades of ebbing and flowing military action were the barbarians gradually assimilated into the greater Cavale population. By 400 CE, all the lands of the eastern plains were sporadically settled by Cavale groups. In time, the tribes of the east gained a reputation as outlaws, fleeing from the increased bureaucracy of contemporary Cavale society and not afraid to rob blind anyone who set foot in their territory.

Five hundred years later, the thriving trade between the Southern Cavale and the nation of Ionia faced a stiff obstacle in the form of the eastern bandits. The Great Chief's solution was violent military action, which finally finished pacifying the east in fifty years' time. By this time, the Southern Cavale in particular were becoming overcrowded for the capacity of their available land, and they flocked to the newly-opened eastern frontier.

As of 1000 CE, the eastern plains, while still the least dense area of the Cavale lands, are growing quickly.

A map of the expansion in question.
