The recently elected Tefūmon VI, King of the Trolls, was in an irritable mood. His Lord Chancellor, Viscount Vlarx V of Terrarv, had been gruesomely killed in a hunting accident yesterday, meaning that Tefūmon VI had to do all of his kingdom's boring paperwork himself, until a suitable candidate could be found an appointed Chancellor. And that could take months.

But, as he was going over his paperwork, he noticed some odd discrepancies. Specifically, discrepancies between the tax paperwork, and the entitlements paperwork. Reading both more closely, Tefūmon VI noticed dozens—no, hundreds—of names, cities, and fiefdoms that were registered as his vassals ans subjects in the entitlements papers, but not in the taxation papers. So, Tefūmon VI summoned his Seneschal, and ordered surveyors to be sent to the furthest reaches of Trollland, to correct these probably-fraudulent discrepancies.

Eight-and-a-half months later, after, thankfully, Tefūmon VI had managed to find a new Lord Chancellor, his surveyors had all returned back to his palace at Terrock. So Tefūmon VI sat down with his chief surveyors and his Lord Chancellor, and started poring over their notes and maps, to create a new master list of Trollish vassals. And, to Tefūmon VI's astonishment, it turned out that there were multiple counties and baronies, and even an entire duchy, outside of the traditional Trolllands, who were claiming the privileges and protections which came with being one of his vassals, but had somehow neglected to pay a single ducat in tax to his treasury.

Tefūmon VI immediately sent out his tax collectors, each with a detachment of his best soldiers, to collect what he was owed.
