The trolls are restless. They have begun to spread out to and settle in fertile coastal territories not traditionally considered part of the troll homelands, and the native inhabitants of those territories have, over the centuries, come to see themselves as trolls too. These new troll lands have been seen by the surveyors and tax collectors of the King of the Trolls, currently His Majesty Tefūmon II, Duke of Terrach, and are now considered to be part of his great realm.

In addition, the County of Terroll, long a minor frontier fief, has expanded massively with the troll shipbuilding industry. Ship need logs, and there's no better source of logs than the forests of Terroll. The venerable Terroll Castle has seen a veritable city spring up around it and the current Lord Vladio III, Count of Terroll, reigning from his new urban seat of power, has claimed the title of Duke of Terroll, and after a few pitched battles and treaties, has had that ducal title recognized by the vast majority of his fellow troll lords.
