His Majesty Lord Tefūmon I, King of the Trolls, Duke of Terrock, has heard rumours from his northern border towns and villages of the occasional wanderer or merchant, of unidentified dress and manner, and has also heard stories from wanderers and merchants of his own people of villages and towns of an unknown people far to the north. As any prudent ruler, Tefūmon I was keenly interested in the presence of any military threats, or potential allies, near his great kingdom, so he decided that a diplomatic expedition was to be sent north, to see if there is any truth to these rumours of a northern people.

Jointly lead by his eldest daughter, Her Highness Lady Tajanna, Princess of the Trolls, and is most loyal advisor, His Excellency Lord Vladio, Count of Terroll, Privy Counsellor to the King of the Trolls, Tefūmon I's Great Expedition to the Northern Barbarians was sent out. With a contingent of honour guards, a small retinue of retainers and courtiers, and a massive baggage train of slaves and servants carrying all the food and supplies, the expedition was the largest non-military force ever deployed by a Troll ruler to foreign lands. Hopefully it would not be followed by the largest military force ever deployed by a Troll ruler to foreign lands.
