I’m a Transportation Planner who just moved to the US. I’ve been with my company for 5 years out of university, have a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, and transferred within my company to my dream city. The only problem is the job is so boring, the pay isn’t that great, and I’m really not stimulated with what I’m doing.
If you asked me why I decided to pursue engineering, I would say I was good at maths and science in high school. But since the pandemic, and as every year goes past, I feel more and more unfulfilled and am questioning why I studied engineering in the first place. I want to do something more creative, but I’m not sure what. My visa is also tied to my company, so not sure of the logistics of completely moving jobs and staying in the US.
I work for one of the big consulting companies, so maybe a pathway to something more creative within the company could be the go? Any advice appreciated.
