All,
One of our players has pointed out that the relative scarcity of coal makes imprisoning players for extended periods of time very difficult, especially if one has any aspirations for constructing reinforced buildings.
While this balance between being able to build and being able to hold pearls for a long time is interesting, I'm wondering if the coal resources are just a little too scarce for that to actually be viable.
With that said, let's talk about a possible alternative.
Wood: A renewable resource, hard to get without vulnerable infrastructure. Advantage: Easy to know how to cripple someone's pearl supply. Disadvantage: Huge tree farms could allow one person to keep a bunch of people indefinitely pearled
Food: Similar considerations as wood. Renewable, vulnerable infrastructure, etc, but really really easy to acquire in mass amounts if not threatened.
Iron: Iron is more prevalent than coal. It also requires coal to be smelted. This retains the coal scarcity as a base line, but allows for essentially 8x the capacity.
Diamond: More common than in vanilla. However, very utilitarian item. A very low consumption rate by PP for this could balance out the excess of diamonds on the server (compared to vanilla).
Redstone: This shit is everywhere and I know nobody is going to be making a 16-bit CPU on the map. However, this stuff is so common that you might as well make cobble the PP resource.
Glowstone: You would have to travel around the map collecting glowstone. Eventually this would run out and nobody could be pearled.
Arrows: A novel idea. Requires access to a variety of resource supplies, or a grinder. However, feathers are not prevalent on the server yet.
Other thoughts?
