Engine replacement on 2004 Civic. Is it even worth the $4000?
Post Body

I have 2004 Civic EX Coupe 2-door and 157k miles on it.Everything was perfect until March then overheating trouble started...

Replaced the condenser fan,Timing belt, spark plugs, water pump and thermostat and all cost me around 1500 with the labor. So last week after a few days of thermostat replacement,it was still overheating.

Took it to my mechanic and they said it does not fail on head gasket test but that does not mean that it is in good condition. They said the best option for me would be swapping the engine and gave me a qoute for 4000 with new radiator. They said if something occurs after new engine, they won't charge me for anything.

What would you guys do in this situation? This is a one owner car and in great condition and i really enjoy to drive it.Still not sure if i should put 4000 on 18 years old car or get a new when the market is sucks
