Current Plans and Hopes
Post Body

Hello all! A while back, my friend Wesker made a post about a reclaim of the city by the WWW as some kind of military citadel. Well, it's been a month and I'd say that Operation Hourglass has fallen flat, and honestly I'm not too shocked. We all have real life matters to deal with, and those of us who play Civcraft jump from city to city with plenty of regularity. Some of you have moved on, some of you have gone inactive, some of you have set up shop in foreign lands, and honestly a dead-end desert ruin in the PlusPlus probably isn't going to draw many new settlers when it's got that urban behemoth of Mount Augusta looming over it. Wesker himself has gone inactive, and I haven't seen another WWW online in a few weeks.

With that preamble out of the way, I'd like to say that I still think Goodsprings is one of my favorite cities on this server and would love to see it rise again. I don't expect it to do that in some kind of blaze of glory and big rush of immigrants though.

The current plan I've got has already been put quietly into motion. Goodsprings is part of Gensokyo and yet it is only rail-accessible by way of Mount Augusta (and only then by a weird add-on side station to their main rail). If anyone was watching the Gensokyo sub recently, you'll already be aware that Carbon is seeking to build a new rail line to the MA nether portal from their desert colony, and GS sits right on their route. I gave them permission to build (empowered by Screenname as de facto manager of New Detroit while she's off working elsewhere on-server) so long as they ran the line beneath Hourglass Station. Once they have that in place, I will plug Hourglass into that line, and then continue their rail from the portal to Jericho, and from Jericho to ND proper.

Basically, all the Gensokyan cities will be linked by rail, making Goodsprings no longer so much of a dead end. And GS is well situated to become the gateway to Gensokyo, since our only other rail connection to the outside world is via the Mount Augusta inner city metro. With it as a stop on the route to the portal, it should get some new traffic at least. I also plan to patch things up a bit above ground and tear down the eyesore WWW fortifications, so it looks more like a city and less like a ruin or bandit camp.

Most importantly I plan to restore the Tree of Life that I hear was once in the temple courtyard. I don't actually know what it looked like, so screenshots would be nice, otherwise we'll have a nice spruce Christmas Tree as a stand-in :)

Here's hoping Goodsprings can rise again - if not quickly, then slowly, but rise nonetheless.
