Radio is something that is near and dear to my heart. PSAs, promos, liners, ins and outs, decibels, hard limiters, keyframes, and underscores all run deep within my veins. Radio is the one thing I have a deep enough knowledge about to be pretentious about and it’s how I pay my rent. Sadly, I don’t know how to code. But that isn’t stopping people from posting their ideas recently.

I’ve had this idea for a while, and it was brought up in 2.0. Radio beacons.

No, not beacons that broadcast ChrisChrispie yelling at you vocally through your monitor about Sneed and Hantzu, but beacons that can broadcast messages into your chat within a certain radius. These can be messages that say “Welcome to Icenia!” Or “danger: you are close to a vault! Stay away”, or point people in the direction of a store, explain what a building is, ect.

Downwind of the obvious implications of this, I think it would make claims more real, and make it better for new players to understand where they are. It’s make the server feel more alive, and doesn’t mess with any tricky things that people like to argue about, and can argue about, for days.
