A question on Retention: How Can Classics Get and Keep New Players?
Post Body

Sorta an open ended post. I'm curious as to how you guys think Classics can better get and retain players.

September 2019: The Greatest Recruitment Drive Ever.

In September 2019, Square posted a render of Mount Augusta onto r/gaming that made it to the top of the sub. As a result, the server was flooded to the brim with new players. So many new players came into Icenia that a massive suburb now known as "East Side" was shit into existence and continues to serve as our version of inner city Detroit. Full of abandoned buildings.

Most of these players, if not all of them, went inactive. I cannot think of a single player recruited from this drive that still plays today.

It seems to me that most new players don't stick around long. In my personal experience out of every 10 or so players I recruit, only 1 will remain active. Recently recruitment has improved these numbers, but it's still pretty dismal when you consider how many people have passed through and joined Icenia since March of 2019.

Retainment of new players would go a long way for the server. How do you suggest we properly do this?
