Introduction

So /u/magmuscivcraft asked a question about the events surrounding Mt. Augusta and the Holy Jaded Empire, since it is complex and has largely been a bunch of shit-flinging, I figured I would write an explanation of events from the perspective of the Holy Jaded Empire as well as some insight into the actions I've taken recently. I am sure this will prompt Magmus to denounce us again of course :)

The Fence, Mt. Augusta, and the Overland Rail

This all began with a fence and a rail that nobody in the HJE wanted.

The GOR controversy began on July 7th with bgbba sending messages and a number of other people messaging me that he was trying to start shit out of the blue. Baes decided to put up an oak wood fence along the northern border of Mt. Augusta with the Holy Jaded Empire. This was done because Mt. Augustan laws are generally respected by the community and property extends from bedrock to sky limit, meaning that if there's a fence in the way and nobody derelicts it, then the rail won't continue across into HJE proper.

I tried negotiating a path through the Holy Jaded Empire for the GOR to continue, but it seemed that nobody in the Imperial Diet (the legislative body of HJE) wanted to give the green light to the project. The best compromise I could come up with is if we built our own bridge and connected whatever towns we wanted to it at a later date, which is what I did. I commissioned the excellent work of the people of SPQR to construct a bridge in quite quick fashion to bypass the Holy Jaded Empire and continue across the ocean, and the GOR can connect to that but as for now, we do not want any overland rails in the HJE. The main points of contentions were as follows:

• We do not want too much unnecessary foot traffic through the area in which the rail was planned. This is first and foremost the most important reason.

• The way in which bgbba approached the issue was undiplomatic and we felt we did not owe him anything. If he wanted the rail to go through our land he should have approached me beforehand in a more respectful manner and improved relations between our two countries.

• Yielding any ground after the way that he approached the issue might not be the best. Again cooperation with the Holy Jaded Empire is dependent on a friendly disposition and respect. We will not be rewarding people for their bad behavior.

• We could see this rail being used to start drama with the HJE in the future, so it is best not to allow it through our claims in the first place. If we allowed it and then removed it (due to the inevitable bg hostility), of course the same people who deride us a "rogue state" would be quick to jump on the bandwagon and decry the big bad mean HJE for taking down poor old bg's rail.

During the Pinkertown situation, we in the HJE had seen Mt. Augusta used as a bludgeon against us, first with people telling the Pinkertown people to run to Mt. Augusta as a way to flee from us. Secondly, people like bgbba and protesters using Mt. Augusta as a staging ground from which to shit stir since they could theoretically run right across the river and be "safe" assuming that Mt. Augusta would not extradite them. If this is how Mt. Augusta's land and laws are going to be abused, as a way to provide safe haven to people who are hostile to the Holy Jaded Empire and its interests, then I see no reason for the double standard when we do the same exact thing. Additionally, bgbba's proposed viaduct with "a trench to be built eventually" claimed by Yoahtl with the intention of making us "cut off from other nations" might be used in much the same fashion, so you can see the dilemma here.

So as for the GOR there is now a bridge that they can connect to that bypasses our land as so that all issues are resolved. It runs from Mt. Augusta at -5576 1949 to somewhere near Tierra de Conciencia at -5576 -1194. Either way the fence was in no way supposed to be a violation of Mt. Augustan sovereignty of us encroaching on them, but rather us taking matters into our own hands making sure that we were not being encroached upon by hostile actors. If bgbba agrees to connect his rail to the bridge, and still wants to pursue a peaceful reconciliation between Yoahtl and the Holy Jaded Empire, then that would be welcomed by myself, the Imperial Diet, and the people living within the Holy Jaded Empire I am sure, but currently we have no intentions of letting the rail continue through our land and especially not with the path that bg intended.

The fence wasn't entirely necessary but if he won't recognize our claims and our laws, then he will have to recognize Mt. Augusta's I suppose. However, I'm not even sure that will stop him because his relationship with Mt. Augustan sovereignty is schizophrenic and opportunistic at best. First he says that Mt. Augusta doesn't deserve its sovereignty if it decides to harbor raiders, then jump forward to the present and he loves Mt. Augusta until it screws with his plans for getting SouthernBloc's pearl, then he apologizes for making statements shitting on Mt. Augusta. Color me skeptical.

F1sh98 and HenryDraton's Actions

A week ago on 7/31 HenryDraton made a post on the Mt. Augusta and Civclassics subreddits about "HJE Occupied Mt. Augusta" which I honestly thought were shitposts. Then I come to find out he had obby bombed my house in Mt. Augusta. He later made a post explaining that he was worried about the HJE, that Mt. Augusta needed SATO (a complete 180 from he said previously), and HJE was encroaching on MtA with the fence. He cited the F1sh pearling situation and his new found affinity and sympathy for him as a major point for why he decided to take that course of action.

F1sh was wanted by the Columbian government after a debacle where he was told to leave, he did not leave, ran to a bunker he had illegally built under his house, then enlisted NeoTide to come break him out, and was given refuge in Okashima. He was pearled in our territory on 7/31 by Baes20 although it was alleged that Baes pearled him in Mt. Augusta and then that Baes attacked him in Mt. Augusta, both of which are false. We withheld this evidence up until now due to vexatious litigants in Mt. Augusta and were waiting for a trial to occur, of course no trial ever occurred because the evidence is not in their favor.

Before the e-lawyers start trying to pull some bs with the evidence, no that is where the recording starts, there's no previous part of the video. While this does not rule out that F1sh was attacked in Mt. Augusta, it is highly unlikely. For them both to be at that distance at that time in the recording, F1sh had to get on the rail, then later Baes had to. If there was an attack in Mt. Augusta, it would not have ended in F1sh being on the rail, it only took two hits from Baes to kill F1sh. Another scenario is where Baes gets off the minecart while he is still in Mt. Augusta underground, runs up to F1sh, attacks him but doesn't kill him for whatever reason, all while his minecart is still moving forward as if someone were in it, then gets back on his minecart and starts the recording. As for F1sh's pearl, he is held in the Holy Jaded Empire's vault, The Best Western Hotel, on behalf of Columbia and I believe rightfully so. Any questions on his sentencing should go to the Columbians, but let me make it clear that the Holy Jaded Empire stands with its ally in this matter.

Baes20 and LegalityX's Misconduct in Mt. Augusta

On 8/1 DrChingChongUn was breaking into the MtA vault, Baes and Legality were in voice chat with him while this occurred and did nothing to stop him. Despite not being official dignitaries representing the Holy Jaded Empire in a formal sense it is the general attitude that citizens are representative of the nation from which they generally reside. Being a citizen of the Holy Jaded Empire, I would have expected more from them both and although there is no obligation to defend under MtA law, I would consider it a gross violation of the code of conduct I would want to hold my citizens to. Baes was armored and did not intervene directly, whereas Legality at least had an excuse not being armored at the time.

In addition to this, (mostly) legality attempted to access chests in the Hjaltland Industries shops in Mt. Augusta using a bug. Baes also attempted to open chests but from what I was told, only three times. Baes holds that he was unable to access the chests and LegalityX claims he did not steal anything, and I think Baes' testimony is far more likely than Legality's in this situation considering the amount of times the chests and chests were opened by each. If Legality or Baes did steal things using a bug then I think I am going to leave it up to the admins as to whether or not anything was actually stolen or not, since that seems like a bannable offense, utilizing a bug or glitch to access chests and steal from them that is.

Overall I am incredibly disappointed in their behavior regarding these two situations and I am looking to hold them accountable. They will be held for a period of one and a half months, starting now but will only be freed once they show that they are willing to be productive and have developed common sense (something they clearly lack). This sentence goes up by one day for every comment on the subreddit, in Discord, or in the ! or any other namelayer group since they seem unable to act with dignity and represent the Holy Jaded Empire in an adequate fashion. Their punishment will be punitive and formative, which may include tasks in game and a written assignment to describe how they failed in the situations and how they can improve their actions in the future.
