He loved his city so much he had to destroy it... to save it.

Hi, I'm Njordomir, ex-mayor and longtime resident (since mid 2.0 civcraft) of Mount Augusta. I've had great interactions with many of you. Many of you bought clay from me on 2.0 or rode the rails I built on Devoted. Many of you might not know me. I keep a moderately low profile and tend to steer clear of drama and trouble.

I loved Mount Augusta and I loved the freedom that came from being part of a minarchist state. I joined during one of the most prosperous times in our history, and have met many wonderful people in that time. Over time, Mount Augusta has been slowly losing its character, and the spirit of the city was being replaced by ambition and desire for more central control. While many of us spoke out against this, I stopped short of taking any extra-legal action to remedy the situation, we were after all a democracy, and good intentioned people were still everywhere you looked, they just didn't understand our history and why Mount Augusta was so successful. Mount Augusta has had dark times before and has always found its way. I hoped that this would happen again. To my disappointment, we continued a slow slide away from our principles and now, my new nation has been wronged by a group using the name of the city I love.

~20 days ago, Tierra de Conciencera (TdC), my Classics nation, publicized our claims in the --. Earlier this week Mount Augusta was found to be squating those claims and would not listen to reason or work with us to the degree necessary to resolve the situation. It is a fairly small island, much of it is marked with signs, and we made them aware of this fairly early on, but apparantly "MTA will need room to grow." At this point, I had already decided I had no intention of participating in the new Augusta because I didn't believe it to be a legal continuation of the city I loved in anything but name. The situation escalated with the murder of State Apparatus by Impulca on an alt, further escalated with State acting in self defense by killing Impulcas alt repeatedly. The situation came to a head with Impulca's griefing of TdC. We even put up a wall, intending to cede all land north of it to the new state, but the promptly built a road right through the middle of it. We are now covered in a carpet of SRS, SRC, and SRD essentially denying us the use of any of our lands. I made various attempts at diplomacy in this time, we spent at least a half hour discussing things on mumble, but Westeros, MTA's accomlplices in this situation were unwilling to drop the situation with State. Personally, I enjoy talking to these folks. They are great discussion partners, bright people, and I have talked to them online on various occasions in the past. I certainly wish them the best IRL. Having said that, I dislike the characters they are playing in game and cannot allow this aggression to go unanswered.

If you want the groups to the grief, I will hand them over. There are four demands that must be met:

1. Impulca and the citizens of MTA shall author a high quality 500 word essay on the importance of respecting other nation's claims and appologizing for the transgressions against my nation's sovereignty. This shall be agreed to in the comments by Impulca and Ahri but shall also be written to include all current Augustans. This shall be posted on the classics sub.
2. No claims, retribution, or any other harm, tangible or otherwise, shall be pursued against State Apparatus or any citizen of TdC by Mount Augusta, Westeros, or any of their proxies. The situation is over and done with, and the dropping of claims on any individuals associated with (TdC) shall be publicly announced in the same post as the essay, or in a post linking to the essay.
3. The name used by the state currently fashioning itself as "Mount Augusta" shall be changed to something else. The word Augusta may be used, but if they are to continue along their current path, they should not be permitted to drag the name of Mount Augusta through the mud as they violate the sovereignty of their neighbours in an attempt to grow their empire of treason. Examples of Acceptable names would be Isle of Augusta, Augusta Classic, Free State Augusta, etc. The name Mount Augusta shall be "parked" for at least 3 months.

In exchange, since I really do have the best interests of Augusta at heart, we will provide you with the group for the grief, and drop our claims on the island giving you the land you wanted so badly you compromised the core values of Augusta. I'm acting alone, but I know that State was willing to give up land for a two sided resolution and has somewhat moved on from this already, other than still being pursued by Westeros. I want the situation to be over, but I won't be steamrolled by what is supposed to be the friendliest nation in the genre. We hope that, pending resolution to this issue, Mount Augusta can work at restoring the qualities that once made it great, and we can take TdC to some other corner of the map where we can leave this conflict behind us.

For those reading in other nations, I hope you can see why I had to do this, and that I went diplomatic first. If you see me pass through your nation, you need not fear. In all my time on civ, I've kept my nose clean and haven't caused any real trouble. As far as I'm concerned, this situation is over now, it's up to MTA and their butt buddies in Westeros if they want the group for the grief or defiantly clean it all by hand.

Maybe now we can talk instead of being pushed off our own land and blown off because we are a smaller state and our claims don't mean shit.
