Inspired by this thread, I laid out plans for a Buccaneer scenario.
The idea that I've had so far is that each city is it's own civ (possibly some city states, because I don't think it's worth forcing a DLL for some 1-tile islands...), and that to win you have to unite all the cities. Don't know how far it's worth going - would we have enough ideas to make a new tech tree?
I thought I might as well put this out there, before the Buccaneers lose any cities. If anyone has any ideas, we can talk about them for a bit, and maybe get something playable.

[Edit] After realising that setting it in the renaissance would turn the date back quite a way, this is the new map. Yes, you now will have to fight the Mayans and Brazilians too :p
