Playing on King difficulty. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. Most recently I lost to Assyria's science victory four turns before the vote that would have elected me world leader.

I want to improve my play and there are a lot of great resources out there I've been using but I wanted to ask you, the community, if you have any particular progress benchmarks that you rely on to make sure you're on the path to victory. Obviously I know a lot of it depends on civ and map choice, but are there any particular metrics you use?

For example, X science/pt (or culture, gold etc) by turn Y, or number of cities or military strength.

Anything, really, that might aid my understanding of my own progress compared to the AI.
