Game crashes (nothing new) and freezes but I can't exit and have to force restart

Not sure if anyone else is having the same problem. I have GS with a few mods installed. The game used to work relatively smooth with the same set up, though would crash a few times. But now when it crashes, the loading image pops up and I can still hear the music and then I'm stuck. If I try to click on the desktop/taskbar , the game screen pops up again. Cant minimize the game or maximize the task master.Usually happens in the first 100 turns or so.

Aside from this bug, the hot keys stop working after a while for some reason.
