So this a couple things to breakdown, so bare with me. Since moving on up to Immortal, one of the issues I've been having is with playing wide, going into liberty. I broke into the difficulty by getting my Tall game basics down, and following advice for that style. Since I want to be flexible and also apply my old preferred style to higher difficulties, I was looking to improve my wide play.
Some of the issues I've been having with wide are science related, and I know early on that's to be expected. The problem is with Tall, and especially culture wins, its easy to focus the top of the tech tree and be fine. Education and Scientific Theory line up fine with gunning for architecture and radio etc.
Now where I want to branch out is that, with wide, some of the techs that favour it and unlock good wonders for it like Notre Dame, as well as military techs that favour early and mid game aggression are on the opposite side of the tech tree. I'm having trouble reconciling my understanding of "science asap" to keep up, and my desire to beeline certain wonders or play aggressively. In my experience, if I focus science techs, the AI finishes wonders like Notre Dame or Alahambra before me, guaranteed. I've figured I can beeline those, and have so far worked out doing so for ND, but I'm still worrying too much that I'm delaying science buildings way too long.
Im wondering if there's advice or guidelines I can follow to solve this, or show me I'm looking at this the wrong way, as well as just advice for beelining some of the other wonders on higher difficulties and when its worth it. As well as an general advice for wide and wide focused conquest I might be missing.
