New checking account funds availability

I opened a new Access checking account with Citibank a couple of weeks ago. I have my debit card and all seems fine so tonight, I transferred a small amount over with a debit card. After transferring, it says the money will be available in 3 business days even though the funds have left my other account already. When moving funds via debit before, I’ve never had a hold period with other banks.

Is this standard for any debit card transfer? I set up direct deposit with Citi with a new employer. Is there any type of hold on direct deposit?
