As far as "The UK is a repressive shithole" stories go this is definitely not one of the classics but overall still rather decent. Though I feel like the hopeful aspect has become increasingly ridiculous as techniques to make the plebs fight against each other have grown more and more refined.
What happened in V was that different types of outcasts fought together against the normative regime.
In reality we have different types of outcast all jockeying for a prize place at the table at the expense of people that are weird just not weird in the same way we are.
