So last night at the UK premiere I got to ask Gareth Edwards about why he chose the Sony FX3 for The Creator and I thought his answer might be interesting for some folks!
Cool. I mean, yeah, I figured it'd be something like that, but still would've assumed that their core color science would be the same. Guess I need to learn more about sensors, lol.
Interesting that he loves the color science for skin so much. Not a cinematographer, but I shoot stills with the Sony a7Rii and I would never use it for portraits. I realize that these two cameras are WORLDS apart, but I would've assumed their color science would be relatively the same. I know I'm pretty ignorant regarding the FX cams, but if anyone could explain if/why color science would be different from the same company, that'd be great. Like, I'd assume that no matter what Canon camera I bought (stills or cinema), the color science would be the same, cause they're all coming from the same company.
