I live very close to the intersection of Sycamore and Liberty. It's technically Mt Auburn but really it's where Mt Auburn, OTR and Pendleton meet.
Anyways.. I drive a nicer car with very dark tint on both the front and back windows. I've always had tint on my vehicles but decided to go even darker when I bought this car with security being very much part of the reasoning. That being said, 4 and a half months ago I was the victim of an attempted smash and grab. I came out to my vehicle and the passenger side window was broken and and completely pulled out lying in pieces next to the car. Center console and glovebox were open and papers scattered around. I say 'attemoted' because there was nothing in there worth grabbing. I immediately got the window fixed and re-tinted. I decided from that day forward that I would just leave my doors unlocked since nothing would be in it
Yesterday I woke up, and walked out to the same exact thing. The few papers and things scattered around, console and glovebox open. They didn't even attempt to try the door. The odd thing about this time, besides the small glass chunks inside and outside the car, the window itself was gone!? Still haven't figured that part out but really it's irrelevant.
I'm thinking now, the blacked out windows may attract more than it helps. 2, the way the tint held the broken window together the first time.. it helped them get rid of it this second time around. I guess I'm asking if anyone else who parks on the street has known or experienced an increase of theft with tint. Moving isn't an option until September and I'd love to hear any suggestions. I'm literally fed up
