New barrel for cider
Post Body

I cannot find a used 6 gal barrel, so I have gotten myself a new one of French oak medium toast.

Before I pour my hard work cider into it, I’d like to know what I’m going into. Do any of you have experience with using a new barrel for cider? My main concern is that the toast and oak impart way too much flavor even only for a few weeks, and in that case I’ll throw a simple beer in it to condition it and take the edge of it.
