Referencing this post from about a month ago. I and another friend asked chase representatives (he asked his private client rep and I chatted with someone at a chase location since I was there anyway) and one didn't know anything about it and the other mentioned they were soon or already ceasing to allow application for the freedom card. I inquired whether that meant the rotating categories would end and the banker stated confidently they would not. Whether or not they knew what they were talking about is not something I can verify.
That, however, is not what prompted this post. This morning I received an email asking me to refer friends for the freedom card specifically. Unless chase really has their heads up their collective asses, that's probably a decent sign the freedom won't be auto changed to the freedom unlimited at the end of the year. Flagging as chatter since nothing in this post is a confirmation, but perhaps indication that the freedom isn't dying as was previously worried.
