I sent out on this mission about 4 or 5 months ago, my Mom being a school teacher, was asking me a lot about chromebooks, then she told me that her school was thinking about getting chromebooks at $199 each, which if you add up all the students, etc. that's a lot of coin to pay for a simple web based device, me being a developer and a avid lover of the raspberry pi, decided to come up with a solution, a port of the chromium os for the raspberry pi 2, and guess what? it worked and its forked into a whole project, we are now on our 4th release and taking beta testers for our 5th release, you can check out our projects home here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChromiumRPI/ This is still a young project, but im quite proud to see that its growing, and let me tell you guys something, there was no better feeling then seeing my mothers students using our port on raspberry pi's, so if you want the latest release you can get that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChromiumRPI/comments/46khws/official_release_chromiumrpi_v04_lenny_bruce_link/
My Goal is to polish up this port so that no matter a schools budget they can get chrome based devices at 1/6 the price of a chromebox, also its going to be cool if schools like the idea of getting raspberry pi's because they could then use them to teach kids how to code, just by swapping in a SD card and launching raspbian
So i thought this was a fun thing to share, and feel free to join us over at /r/ChromiumRPI for some chrome talk sometime, and I'd love to answer any questions, regarding this project, whether it be about development or any thing really, for this is something im very passionate about and I love talking about, so ask away
Thank You For Reading Fellow Chrome OS Lovers
