Deprecation of support for legacy ChromeOS media containers and codecs
Post Body

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue.

Apparently ChromeOS is deprecating some codecs. When I updated to v120, I discovered that literally all of my MP4s on Google Drive would not open in the native Files app until I enabled the flag. I can't tell if this is the proper behaviour of this change, but it severely breaks the long standing ability of being able to use Google Drive as an extension of the local storage.

I'm really hoping that I won't have to spend hours and hours re-encoding all of my videos, when the Files app doesn't even specify which codecs any particular file actually has.

For reference, I'm on a Pixelbook running Version 120.0.6099.272.
